Analytics and Page Optimization Methods
Measuring performance to determine effectiveness makes a lot of sense. So why aren't small businesses employing these tools within their business? Possibly because the learning curve associated with understanding the analytical software in the market place requires too much of time commitment to implement and understand. Site analytics and metrics usually involve data extracted from web logs, which in turn contains all the necessary information that is sent from the user to the server and vice versa.
Why are Site Analytics and Metrics Important?
You will gain useful information about your digital marketing efforts; from site statistics and trends to links that lead to your site, and so on. All this information will form part of the analysis that enable you to make informed decisions concerning the direction of your message, design and structure. The goal is to generate more traffic (and profits) into your site
Site Optimization Analytics and Testing
It sure would be nice to know which ad will produce the best results! In a digital age measuring response is possible, knowing this tests will be established that will change components to determine market acceptance. There is a highly organized and scientific way of doing this, and it includes the following:
- A/B Split Testing. Most companies find it effective to perform site optimization through AB Split, also known as Split Run Testing, wherein two alternatives are being tested at the same time. This scientific technique enables random division of site visitors into two groups: one group visits the old one, and the other is led to the new one. From there, an AB Split Test can evaluate which page layout has more likelihood of generating more sales. The same can also be done when simultaneously comparing the effectivity of two entirely new designs.
- Multiple Variable Testing. With multivariate tests, elements of a page are isolated and site owners are provided with the opportunity to see which elements actually matter, and which combination is the strongest in terms of generating positive impact on sales. The goal of multi-variable testing is to create the page that is most compelling design or lay-out, that leads the highest possible conversion rate. This is done by randomly splitting the traffic and showing each of the visitors only one type of design version. With multi-variate testing, you can have more than two alternatives and a number of combinations for a more conclusive test.
